Drip irrigation system is the type of (HEIS). It includes the applying of water drop by drop directly to the root zone as well as fertilizers.
Components of drip irrigation system:
- Water source e.g. (Pond, Well)
- Pump OR Diesel Engine
- Filtration System e.g. (Hydro-cyclone filter, Sand filter, Disc Filter)
- Fertigation System e.g. (Venturi, Fertilizer tank)
- Monitoring devices e.g. (Pressure gauges, Water meter)
- Valves e.g. (ARV, NRV, Bypass valve, Ball Valve, Flush valve)
- Main line
- Sub-main line
- Lateral
- End Stops
- Emitter/Drippers
- Gromate and take-off
Drip Irrigation Layout:
Inline drip irrigation system:
Inline drip irrigation system contain drippers installed inside the laterals according to plant to plant distance. OR, Inline drip tubing is manufactured by inserting a drip emitter directly into the tubing at evenly spaced intervals during the manufacturing process. Usually two holes are then drilled into the tubing at a precise location for every emitter, where the water will drip out.
Online drip system contain plain laterals in which drippers are installed outside the lateral. Online drip emitter outlets are installed at or near the plants root zone, this helps to eliminate wasteful irrigation between plants. In online drip irrigation system you can change the water supply as per your requirement by changing the no of emitters.
Advantages:
- More yield
- Good quality crop production
- Save water
- Control the weed production
- Suitable for undulated lands
- Low energy requirement
- Reduced labor demand
